Why You Need a Library of Branded Images

(Hint hint: Don’t make the same mistake I did!)

I get it. Picture day wasn’t fun in the 7th grade and even as an adult it can stir up all kind of insecurities to get in front of the camera. But in this fast moving world we live in today, you could be missing out on amazing opportunities by not having up-to-date images of yourself at the ready. 

Let me tell you about a huge mistake I made recently. I photographed branding images of a local artist for a feature in an online publication. They loved them so much they wanted to feature me in an upcoming article. Hooray!! Except they needed me to submit images of myself. Yep, I was a branding photographer with no branded images of myself. At that exact moment in time I was traveling a lot for work and didn’t have time to find a photographer and schedule a photoshoot. I tried doing self portraits but jumping in front of the camera and trying to pose myself was a bit of a disaster. I handed my camera over to my husband but all the images were blurry. So the opportunity to get published passed me by. 

At the beginning of this year I had more time and was able to finally schedule a personal branding shoot for myself. Having someone knowledgable about posing and my brand was so important in getting the images I needed! Now I have a library of photos to choose from the next time someone wants to feature me or asks me to be a guest speaker.
